This
house is directly on the beach. You just walk under
the palm trees to the beach. People ask what sports you can do in the
water and I say it depends on the weather. The ocean can be calm and
crystal clear like a lake or there can be big waves and wind, or anything
in
between. Depending on the conditions, swimming, kayaking, wave kayaking,
boogie boarding, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, snorkeling or scuba
diving are possibilities. We always find something fun to do in the water. Normally, the waves
are gentle along the shoreline.
The
reef is about 200 yards out. It is a gently sloping, mostly sandy
bottom out to the reef. If good sized waves are breaking on the reef,
the
water will not be clear enough for good snorkeling. The best reefs are
several hundred yards north and south from my house. There are many sea
turtles that live on the reef to the north. From December to April, you
are
likely to see humpback whales, sometimes close to the reef.
All
of these pictures are taken behind the house.
